Chapter One

So just to catch everyone up, here is a quick timeline of the history of this blog.

In 2012, I started my first blog, First Grade Teacher Firsts, and opened a store on Teachers Pay Teachers.

Shortly after that, I started a school psychology graduate program and decided to change my blog to something more relevant to my current and future career goals. Thus, The Therapeutic Teacher was launched.

Teacher Blog

Through this blog, I’ve met so many amazing educators from around the world. I am so thankful for the opportunities that this little business of mine has given me, along with the many new friends that I have made.

That being said... it’s time for another new chapter. It has been one year since I’ve stepped foot in a classroom as a teacher, and although I miss it like crazy, I don’t miss it at all (hah). I’m more than halfway through my Ph.D. program and couldn’t be more excited for my future career in the field of school psychology. For this reason, I feel like this is the right time to close the doors of The Therapeutic Teacher.

But with every ending, comes a new beginning. Over the past five years of blogging, I’ve learned a lot about the ins and outs of starting a business, but more importantly, I’ve learned so much about myself. One being that I LOVE branding and website design. Not sure if anyone has been counting, but I think my blog has had a “makeover” around 10-12 times since it has started. My blog never needed a new look, but I always found it to be so fun. Throughout the years, I received many questions about my blog design and have loved sharing the tips and tricks that I’ve discovered. So naturally, my next adventure is going to be in the world of design! And even more exciting, I am going to create designs specifically for teachers!

I am already so excited to get this new project launched and running. Some of the fun things I will be designing are:

  • teacher logos
  • branding products: business cards, etc.
  • website design and e-commerce through Squarespace
  • styled stock photography
  • design tutorials + courses
  • notepads, stationary, desk accessories
  • and The Happy Teacher Binder!

All of this will be rolling out within the next couple of weeks. I can’t wait to start working with other teachers to help them grow their businesses and make teaching easier!

So in closing, I want to say thank you to everyone that has supported The Therapeutic Teacher, whether it was reading a blog post or simply liking a photo on Instagram. I owe so much of my success to this blog and my followers and can’t wait to give back to the community of teachers that I have greatly enjoyed being part of over the last five years.

warmest regards,

P.S. I will still have my store on Teachers Pay Teachers under the name Kristin Edwards and a link to all of my old blog posts will be located at the bottom of the page. :)
